More than 149,000 Chapter 7 bankruptcy and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases were filed in March, 2010, the highest monthly total since Congress changed the bankruptcy laws in October of 2005. Researchers are predicting the numbers to increase as long as the unemployment rates do not get any better.
